MSC Hospitality is a wonderful student organization that runs numerous events to benefit the students of Texas A&M as well as the local residents of the Bryan-College Station Area.
One of our biggest events is the MSC Open House, which is the biggest Open House for clubs and student organizations and Texas A&M. Here, many students find their communities as well as technical teams that improve their leadership in a technical environment. All sorts of clubs, focused on social, service, and professional goals come and advertise themselves in order to attract students looking for a community. The Student Engineers' Council puts on numerous events to help the College of Engineering. The biggest event is our Engineering Career Fair, which is the largest student-run career fair in the nation. I've personally worked as a Career Fair Coordinator, where I helped market the event and the new venue changes to 25000 engineering students.
The SEC, however, is more than just the Career Fair - to get a full list of all the events we put on, please visit THIS website. Our Instagram is @tamusec.
I worked as a Marketing Coordinator for the Spring 2024 Career Fair, where I learned a lot about marketing and design principles. I also learned how to communicate my ideas and thoughts effectively while considering other's thoughts.
For the Spring 2024 Career Fair, we made the decision to relocate the fair to Legends Event Center, an off-campus venue. Ever since I was a Freshman, the Career Fair had taken place in Kyle Field, our football stadium, and students associated the Career Fair with that location. However, during Fall 2023, Kyle Field could not accommodate the immense amount of students who wanted to come in, and huge lines formed outside in the blistering Texas heat. Thus, we decided to move to Legends Event Center, first in the smaller spring fair, but eventually for the fall fair as well assuming everything worked out well. Since Legends Event Center was off-campus, we had to consider how to get students to the fair. We needed to make the transit system rigorous enough that it was at least as convenient, if not more convenient, than Kyle Field. As marketing coordinator, I was in charge of presenting all these changes to students and ensuring that they had a positive outlook on the change.
A lot of my time was spent designing yard signs, Instagram posts, and all other sorts of physical and digital signage that would be displayed to students. I have embedded an example of an Instagram post that I designed using Canva below.
In addition, we organized the printing of around 100 signs needed for the career fair, ensuring every signage that was needed was printed in the exact quantities needed. In addition, since this change was especially big, me and my co-coordinator organized presentations to multiple Engineering Student Organizations and gave some ourselves, explaining to them why this change was necessary and how it would benefit them. In addition, we wrote two emails, reaching all 25000 engineering students, about the details of the fair and the new transportation infrastructure available to students.
